                                              KNUCKLE BOOM CRANE

The Knuckle Boom Crane is ideally suited for a range of marine and offshore applications including load transfer, cargo handling, riser/pipe handling and general service operations.

Each crane can be designed and certified in accordance with EN 13852, RINA, DNV-GL, ABS or API and can be configured with single or dual hydraulic cylinders on both luffing joints. With 360 degree slewing, smooth operation and built to the highest standards of quality and safety, the knuckle boom cranes deliver high performance and lifting capabilities.

                                              Typical applications:

                                              • Deck cranes (shipboard)

                                              • Ship to Ship cranes
                                              • Pipe handling cranes
                                              • Boat handling cranes
The knuckle boom cranes are available from SWL 2t – 250t lifting capacity and are supplied according to customer requirements and optional features.

In addition HMB Lintec marine offers an AHC knuckle boom crane developed for operation in the offshore oil and gas industry. It is designed for safe deck handling, ship-to-ship operation and subsea installation, using precise load controls.

With the addition of a deep-sea winch and the active heave compensation system, the offshore knuckle boom crane can be used for deep sea operation.

Active Heave Compensation involves real time automatic control of the winch or a compensating cylinder in order to counteract the heave motion of the jib head. Information on the jib head motion comes from a motion reference unit (MRU). These systems often make use of energy stored in nitrogen accumulators. AHC cranes are available up to 250m lifting capacity and working at 2,500m water depth.
